OVI Panel Violating GPL License
Posted by: abhaysv - 12-09-2019, 01:09 PM - Forum: General Discussions (Non-Support Related) - Replies (6)

Hi, today I was looking casually for reseller hosting panels. I found this site proving the OVI panel. On looking at the site it first seems free. Still, when you click download it provides a free one month trial, once it expires they ask you to buy their reseller hosting, so i went ahead and purchased it. Since it a modified version of sentora, I asked for the source code and they have denied proving the same,  which is a violation of the GPL license (this is what i understood reading it). Also with their distributed binaries, they haven't mentioned anything about GPL.

I have attached a link to their site: https://www.ovipanel.in/.

I just felt like making this thread since they r forcing people to buy stuff from them so that they can use the modified software. They pretend that it's their software, and will allow you to use if free if you buy servers form them.

Hi, I was just wondering you guys putting in a lot of time solving the users problems *high-five*

How many times have you had a nasty issue and what's your experience with it? What would you wish the users should know about using this forum?

Server Status Monitor
Posted by: rsthomas - 05-12-2019, 02:05 AM - Forum: General Discussions (Non-Support Related) - Replies (5)

Any recommendations on a good Server Monitor that will display, at minimum, realtime CPU % and Memory % usage to be run from either the Sentora Panel or Unbuntu Console? ...maybe even Hard Drive usage...

Sentora Forum Spam Issues
Posted by: fearworks - 11-29-2018, 09:13 PM - Forum: General Discussions (Non-Support Related) - Replies (9)

The constant spammy posts that keep appearing on this forum are really starting to get annoying.

MyBB boasts anti-spam features, so are these being utilised? Or can we add some recaptcha code to sign-up and posting forms?

Or even better, make the forum a moderated environment where posts need approving by an admin first? And if the issue is that there aren't enough admins, then may I suggest asking if anyone would be willing to help out in this field? I visit this forum daily now and often report any spam posts, but they are becoming a bit of a joke because there are more posts made than actual real user posts.

Keith.

I'm going to teach the local community in the city, future programmers to use Sentora.

What do you recommend as legal to teach there?

Questions regarding install and config procedures
Posted by: nathanstotts - 08-21-2018, 11:44 PM - Forum: General Discussions (Non-Support Related) - No Replies

First off, I am a Windows guy, my Org's Infrastructure is all Windows, so please bear with me.

Doing some searching on this forum, I found that pretty much everything is installed on an individual server. Is it possible with Sentora to segregate the services? Having a separate DB server with a separate Mail Server; all with Ubuntu of course all while attaching to a separate storage pool? And is it possible to cluster for failover?

I'm not entirely comfortable with a single point of failure

Forum (activation) email issue
Posted by: fearworks - 06-30-2018, 01:31 AM - Forum: General Discussions (Non-Support Related) - Replies (1)

Hi,

I just want to bring to your attention an issue I have been experiencing with trying to register an account here.

My first attempt (account name "fearworksmedia") was using my mail.com email address, and I tried several times to receive the activation email but it just never came through. I have now created this account using my gmail.com email address, and I notice in Gmail that the activation email is flagged as "not encrypted".

Generally this means (afaik) that the server sending it and connecting to gmail's servers was not using a secure connection (TLS/SSL) but used a plain unsecure connection. I'm guessing that mail.com's servers simply refuse to speak to servers that don't communicate securely so it just never accepts the SMTP communication from sentora's mail server, whereas Gmail is a bit more tolerant (although I believe not for much longer).

This shouldn't be too hard to fix - I can set up an SSL certificate on my Sentora servers in about 5 minutes and configure Postfix to use secure communication so I never have this issue.

Just thought I would give you a "heads up" - if anyone says they don't receive Sentora forum emails, that's probably why.

Keith.
