Problem with installing a Self SSL Certificate

Problem with installing a Self SSL Certificate
I am using the current version of Centos & Zpanel and I can not get the ssl certificate to work. After I installed it and type https://domainname it keeps going to the zpanel login screen.

All the files exist and I am using the correct path.

Can someone please tell me or provide me with some better instructions?

http://forums.sentora.io/showthread.php?...hlight=ssl

1: enable apache2 ssl
Code: (Select All)
sudo service apache2 restart

Setup ssl on you server

2: make a folder to the crt and key files
Code: (Select All)
sudo mkdir /var/zpanel/hostdata/name/ssl

3: Create a Self Signed SSL Certificate
Code: (Select All)

Script /bin/makessl and I type makessl domainname:

echo Switch to the /var/zpanel/hostdata/name/ssl then run this script
openssl req -x509 -nodes -days 365 -newkey rsa:2048 -keyout $1.key -out $1.crt

Domain Name is: Checked
Suhosin is Enabled: Checked
OpenBased Enabled: Checked
Port Override is left blank
IP Override: Left Blank

Customer Entry:

</VirtualHost>
<VirtualHost *:443>
ServerAdmin Email
ServerName cyberchatnet.com
DocumentRoot /var/zpanel/hostdata/philtaylor/public_html/cyberchatnet_com
SSLEngine on
SSLCertificateFile /var/zpanel/hostdata/philtaylor/name/ssl/cyberchatnet.com.crt
SSLCertificateKeyFile /var/zpanel/hostdata/philtaylor/name/ssl/cyberchatnet.com.key

Is Apache configured to listen on port 443 as well/updated your firewall rules?

RE: Problem with installing a Self SSL Certificate
I see that https://www.cyberchatnet.com/ is open with firewall and certificate is installed.

So the main issue is getting this work on virtual host you intend to.

Did you enable the port override on 443 for this virtual host?

Yes, and in override a Virtual Host Settings I selected the domain.

I put this in the custom entry:

</VirtualHost>
<VirtualHost *:443>
ServerAdmin None@professionalwebhostingservices.com
ServerName cyberchatnet.com
DocumentRoot /var/zpanel/hostdata/philtaylor/public_html/cyberchatnet_com
SSLEngine on
SSLCertificateFile /var/zpanel/hostdata/philtaylor/name/ssl/cyberchatnet.com.crt
SSLCertificateKeyFile /var/zpanel/hostdata/philtaylor/name/ssl/cyberchatnet.com.key

Port override I put port 443 and why after I restart apache I am getting this:

/etc/init.d/httpd restart
Stopping httpd: [ OK ]
Starting httpd: httpd: Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using fwh.professionalwebhostingservices.com for ServerName
[FAILED]
[root@fwh ~]# /etc/init.d/httpd restart
Stopping httpd: [FAILED]
Starting httpd: httpd: Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using fwh.professionalwebhostingservices.com for ServerName
[FAILED]
[root@fwh ~]# /etc/init.d/httpd start
Starting httpd: httpd: Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using fwh.professionalwebhostingservices.com for ServerName
[FAILED]

I attached a copy of my conf files.

RE: Problem with installing a Self SSL Certificate
Can you edit your zpanel httpd.conf and add a line

"Servername localhost" (w/o qoutes)

Save it then restart your apache service.

Thank you. How about the problem with httpd keeps crashing after I added and try to restart httpd when adding a new self ssl certificate?

Httpd did the same thing after I followed your instrictions and I tried to re-install the ssl ceritifcate.

[root@fwh var]# /etc/init.d/httpd restart
Stopping httpd: [FAILED]
Starting httpd: [FAILED]

I was told by the author to go to this forum. I already been trying to install the Self SSL Certificate that is in the instructions and its not working. I am trying to determine what instructions or steps where left out or why its not working.

RE: Problem with installing a Self SSL Certificate
Use my links dude they work for CentOS (I know I wrote them).

It looks like you're completely off track with what's required to install SSL certs on your system.
