Apache Wont Start
Hi all,

I have a server on digital ocean.

When i try to start apache i get this error

root@panel:~# service apache2 start
* Starting web server apache2                                                   *
* The apache2 configtest failed.
Output of config test was:
apache2: Syntax error on line 223 of /etc/apache2/apache2.conf: Syntax error on line 35 of /etc/sentora/configs/apache/httpd.conf: Syntax error on line 69 of /etc/sentora/configs/apache/httpd-vhosts.conf: Expected </Directory> but saw </virtualhost>
Action 'configtest' failed.
The Apache error log may have more information.

Now when i try to access the above files from putty it says permission denied.

Thanks,

Ryan

RE: Apache Wont Start
remove the override you added (likely for SSL). Let me guess you tried some override for SSL or custom vhost settings?

For sure you didn't remove it correctly send apache config files here in

/etc/sentora/config/apache

So we can help you at least fix the problem you created.

Code:

RE: Apache Wont Start
Remove your changes or use your backup files (which you should have made before making any changes just in case something like this happened) and it should come right back up.

I did not make any backup Sad
Do you have any backup tutorial to guide me? I'll reinstall everything.

RE: Apache Wont Start
For small changes like this, it's always good to make a copy of the file you are editing Wink
You do not have to backup everything.
A re-install will definitely fix it  Big Grin
