Sentora daemon high CPU usage

I am running Sentora for over a year now, pretty solid software, I like it.
But I have the idea, that the sentora daemon /etc/sentora/panel/bin/daemon.php
is constantly running and using a lot of CPU power, and also invoking mysql?

What does the daemon really do? And why does it have to run 24/7?

It should not run 24h/24h. You can change already the frequency if you are not adding websites so often and accept the delay once added.

The cron will mainly:

1. Do maintenance jobs: backup, process logs, bw calculation, run webalizer.
2. Create/delete new websites/DNS and restart services if needed.

Default set set cron job priority lower, so even if it uses 80% CPU it won't impact server performance as APACHE/MySQL have higher priority and can grab the ressources.

List the cron jobs in ubuntu and you will see it there.
