Upgrading from 14.04 to 14.04.2 should NOT have the same issues as from 12.x to 14.x
I'm sorry I did not recommend the backups, that is something you should always do, even if not updating.
Regarding your apache error, should be easy.

Just create the httpd.conf file:
touch /etc/apache2/httpd.conf

*Please make backups, and I'm sorry for not warning about it... now I feel bad...*
