I'm supprised phpmyadmin requires a mysql version of 5.5 ... centos is using a stable securely backported version of mysql. I personally would be looking to make phpmyadmin work on the distro version of mysql rather than relying on external repos..

Alternatively look at installing MariaDB as a drop in replacement Smile

This needs raising as a bug on the installers repo over on github ...
