1.) Install Sentora on your server from the Console.
You will not be able to do domain/hosting setup from a browser until you have completed the rest of the steps.
2.) DNS -- https://freedns.afraid.org/
Register your domains and subdomains with them, directing everything to your server's IP Address.
I recommend the Shared Private setting for your domains. You can read their information to learn what that means.
3.) Register the Nameservers provided by afraid.org with your domain registrar.
4.) Dynamic DNS -- https://www.noip.com/
I believe this is useful if you have a non-dedicated IP Address from your ISP. A Static IP Address is better, but costs more than I want to pay -- it would goggle up the savings derived from hosting myself. Afterall, savings is what motivated me to host in the first place.
5.) Router Setup
I use a LinkSys WRT 1900ACS which allows for the redirection of Port activity to the specific machine you use as a server. This is critical. See the attached file for sample settings. Other Routers work in a similar fashion.
6.) Backup Power Supply
This is especially important if you are servicing clients.
Good fortune to you as embark on hosting inhouse. If you haven't been using Sentora before, I'm sure you will love it like I do. I host 22 domains, and it works great!
