Don't get it. Can you provide more infos? Are you able to telnet pop3/imap4 port? Did you check you were not firewalled?

Beside that you complain over dovecot while dovecot is used only for POP3/IMAP4.

SMTP sending receiving on the other hand is POSTFIX job. So you need first to ensure port 25 is not firewalled and can be accessed.

Also ensure DNS is ok. 90% of the issues are firewall or DNS!
