chown -R / problem...

chown -R / problem...
Welcome.
One of my students made chown root: root / on a production server.
Reinstallation of the server is not an option, I would ask all paths and rights, which uses sentora.
Thank you for quick help.

RE: chown -R / problem...
kostek sadly reinstalling the server is probably your only safe option.
There are countless paths with different permissions that you will most likely miss or you will need to spend days looking for the right paths.

Even if you fix Sentora permissions you changed EVERY folder and file on your system, so Sentora is the least of your worries.

If you still want to try to fix your system (massive work ahead) please look on the following pages and read carefully the questions and comments there:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/300557/ho...ctory-file
Reading above page you will probably be direct to:
http://superuser.com/questions/132891/ho...CES#356946>

I'll say this once again, reinstalling your system will be easier and better.
Also, next time either make a full system backup or do not give root access to your students Wink

I wish you good luck.

RE: chown -R / problem...
Just install Sentora on a Virtual Machine and mirror the permissions (see links above on how to do that)
