Pre Install Questions.

Pre Install Questions.
Hey all.

I am very very happy to see that Zpanel is getting new life in Sentora. I have new servers I would like to use for testing. I have some questions I would like to know prior to doing some experiments. I have used Zpanel some time ago so I can't remember exactly whats possible or how to go by doing it.

I will be running this in a semi production state. The servers is a bit of a strange puppy which you wont see in a data center. Its meant for experimenting with new custom hardware and trying unconventional things(Will share more information once I am able.). It will be hosting a few websites that will also be cloned to other servers in case these crash. Sorry I knows its vague and may sound strange. It is a bit strange what we are doing but we feel that this is the best way to test this hardware. So lets get down to the questions..

The servers will be running Centos 7. The hardware manufacturer has been testing on Centos 7. I would like to stay with Centos 7 till the hardware has been finalized before we build more servers to test other OS.

Stable:
When I used Zpanel in the past (Dont remember exactly the exact version.) it seemed like a fairly stable software. It did have its quirks but never seemed to have a big issue.

Is Sentora the same? Has it been forked from a better version of Zpanel which is more stable?

Backup:
I want to install a "secondary" hard drive to send all the backups to. Just in case a server does fail I have the backups on that drive.

I do remember that Zpanel had a backup manager. Now, when I ran Zpanel I had a raid 10 setup and the backup directory was on the main drive using the default setting. These servers will run a Raid 0. Yup, Raid ZERO. So, are you able to change the backup directory to the secondary hard drive?

Updates:
I know that Sentora is in beta. Is there an update manager or would we have to rerun the latest installer every time?

Cluster:
Any plans to cluster other servers?

SSL Support:
This question is more for me. In the version of zpanel that I used I had a funny thing happen. When I  installed an ssl the whole site became secure. This is great dont get me wrong but only wanted the backend/Checkout secure. I tried to force only the backend/checkout to be secure but then the server would error. For some reason it wouldn't switch to a none secure connection.

Has this been fixed in a newer version or is that how Sentora/Zpanel handle SSL?

Now, before you say its the ssl. It was a Comodo Ev SSL. I did try the site on a server running cpanel and it would only had the backend/checkout secured. Everything else was not secure.

For the SSL Part I did find what I was looking for. I do wish that Sentora did make its own SSL Vhost when a SSl is added to a domain. It would make it super useful. If someone would be willing to make a module for this PM me a quote. Maybe I would be willing to put some money down to have this made.

Sorry I know these may be a bit odd or stupid but I do thank you for your time.

Any findings we would be happy to report. Again once we are able to share more info I will. Maybe when we do the release of the hardware ill post the press release here.

RE: Pre Install Questions.
1. This a beta & will be updated so take car & updater won't update beta!

2. I made a backup script for sentora:
http://forums.sentora.org/showthread.php?tid=242

You can hack it & change the drive for extra backup on remote server.

2. Sentora will be stable like zpanel. No issue, we forked the last available zpanel build.

3. updater: no updater for beta. It will target only releases. So yes you need to wait for release even if it looks stable, or you will miss key updates/fixes that can still roll on.

4. Before cluster we should first enable multi server management, we are changing the api first.

5. SSL the best solution is we add our own module for SNI support as the way it's setup currently is totally akward & I understand what you mean as you expect to have both HTTP & HTTPS working fine side by side. That is on the plans but not for this release, it's too late to add it now.
Clean SSL support is not so hard to do if we understand the right way. Would you like to sponsor it? Donations are welcome.

Thank you for the reply. I am excited that its stable. Ill keep an eye out for the updates. I hope going from beta to stable will be simple.

Thank you for the backup module. I will take a look at it. If I have any questions ill PM you.

With the SSL module I would be willing to donate after these pesky holidays that seem to suck every penny out of you. I would love to see that implemented.
