ZP->Sentora Upgrade in the works for Windows!

ZP->Sentora Upgrade in the works for Windows!
Ok gang, I have been going over my files and things. Since I have made all the fixes and updates to my personal Windows ZP server I am planning on making a file and DB upgrade package to bring the 'left behind' ZPanel 10.1.1 users up to current Sentora 1.0.3. I have already done a test run on one server and all seems OK. I will NOT however be upgrading the stack at this point. I just don't have the time Sad

This package will upgrade ZPanel 10.1.1 installs to Sentora 1.0.3 (for clarification.) Not 10.1.0 or 10.0.1/2. You will need to sort that upgrade out on your own.

Will keep you posted!

RE: ZP->Sentora Upgrade in the works for Windows!
Hey TGates,

I'm running my production web server using Zpanel 10.1.1 on Windows Server 2008 R2 and a development server running the same Zpanel on 2012 R2. I am currently considering an upgrade path to Sentora, so your upgrader is of interest to me. I'm happy to beta test it for you also if that helps.

Windows-OS question for you - I find the performance of Zpanel-Stack on Windows vs NIX based OS to be somewhat lower...have you had similar experience? I may look to try upgrading the stack manually as I'm now running into problems with PHP version compatibility on 5.3/5.4 - is there anything that you know for sure will break if I do attempt upgrading the stack?

Let me know if I can help at all with your upgrader.

Yes, the stack does seem to run slower on all Windows installs Sad

The manual upgrade has worked 100% on my production server.

Where I am so far:
Already have the files ready to be packaged up.
Finish off the DB update SQL - need to make an SQL query to find/replace all ZPanel, Zpanel, zpanel, and zpanelcp.com to Sentora, Sentora, sentora, and sentora.org respectively. (I did this manually on an SQL dump and worked fine, want to try to automate it)
(May also work out a way to convert the DB from zpanel_ to sentora_)
Create a tutorial.

So, it is a little way off from completion for the public, but it is in working condition at this point manually. (Advanced admins should be able to do it as is.)

Testers will be needed Wink

As mentioned, the stack does need updating also..
I tried to do a manual upgrade to php 5.6 but couldn't get apache to start Sad
But apache, mysql and hmailserver should be updated too.
phpmyadmin and roundcube updates will be left for the server admins to update on their own. -very easy if you follow their instructions.

While working on the DB Update script I found some more files that needed conversion also Angry
Back to comparing ZP 10.1.1 files with Sentora 1.0.3 files for more changes.

I want to make this upgrade as complete as possible.

RE: ZP->Sentora Upgrade in the works for Windows!
Hi and thanks for your work!

I'm planning an upgrade from Zpanel 10.1.1 (with Apache 2.4 and PHP 5.6.9) to Sentora so if you need a tester I'll be happy to help since it's I'd like to do the upgrade in my production server as soon as I can (of course I'll try it on a spare machine before rushing to production).

Are there some instruction on the manual upgrade?

Will I have some problem with the stack I'm using?

Thanks a lot, have a nice day.

RE: ZP->Sentora Upgrade in the works for Windows!
I have no idea how it will work with the stack. But the stack does need to be upgraded also. So, if you could make some notes on how you updated the stack, that will be very helpful as I am only working on converting the c:/zpanel/panel/ folder and DB to Sentora.

I am still working on the package and testing it on winXP and a WinServer 2008. So far all seems OK except for some more tweaking and refining of the process. I should have a testable copy hopefully within a week Smile

Also, on your stack upgrade, do you still have suhosin installed and working?

RE: ZP->Sentora Upgrade in the works for Windows!
Getting closer! A few more tests and I'll release a Beta to be tested on non-production servers. Once we receive feedback and fix any bugs, a full release will become available.

Are there any beta testers out there with ZPanel 10.1.1 installed on Windows who would like to test and report back any issues?

It's about time we try and get all the lost ZPX users converted to Sentora Wink

Hey again,

I can beta test for you - pm me the details if you like, or post back Smile

I have a test machine with server 2012 R2 and zpanel 10.1.1 - it's running on vsphere so I can easily snapshot prior and roll back - perfect for testing.

I have added the project to GitHub for those who wish to contribute to it.
https://github.com/TGates71/Sentora-Wind...ree/master

It is not fully tested at this point so I suggest you test it out on a dev server NOT on a production server!

Post your results here and I will update as needed.
