Newbie Question.

Newbie Question.
Good day all. First, I want to thank all the members and dev team for job(s) well done.

We have been using ISPconfig3 and VestaCP for quite a while with great success. ISPconfig is excellent, but time consuming and VestaCP lacks many features needed.

We decided some time ago to move from Zpanel to Sentora and stalled.

In any case, we want to know if we can install Webmin with Sentora?

Thanks...

RE: Newbie Question.
I use webmin with sentora on most of my servers without any issue.

I like using webmin for core OS tasks, never for apache or mySQL config as that would cause issues with sentora.

I absolutely agree - no apache / MySQL. In fact was just about to post my results. All went well and no errors and so far both boys are playing nicely on Centos 6.6. Even added a bunch of zppy modules with no ill affects (at least not yet).

I do have a point of confusion. Assuming we roll out to production after testing, how do we create DNS template records for users when they create their own websites? I went over and over all the docs I could find and went through every single option on every page - can't find how do this. I'm obviously missing something.

So for ex:
1) Create DNS Zone for my hosting domain, with basic A, MX, FTP, NS records etc,
2) Create new user (assign a package),
3) New user logs in and creates his website. He gets a copy of my domain DNS records created in step one. Of course he/she can add new ones (cannot change IP).

It is likely a change of the way we are used to doing this in other panels, so I apologize if it's something obvious that I am missing.

Thanks in advance.

RE: Newbie Question.
DNS are not created automaticly. But once you add any DNS entry you will ge the defaults setup.

Again, thanks for the prompt support. I have it figured out a lot from clicing and changing and experimenting - just a learning thing I think. BTW, this is all being done on a test server so if a mistake is made all is well.

In fact, we are compiling quite a detailed install, 1st step and "step by step" set of docs.

But another question: when we create the default DNS all is well, however NS2 = the same IP as NS1.

We have multiple DNS servers with multiple ISP's - different networks. This is for redundancy. So when we create the DNS zone file (using the CP), we cannot find a place to add a second IP for a redundant NS (i.e. NS2).

I've looked at this post http://docs.sentora.org/?node=92, but I don't believe it to be applicable.

It is not a big deal, it's a simple edit to change NS2 address.

Again, thanks for the assist, the support so far is quite excellent.

Cheers...

This should be looked into. Some way of having the ability to add multiple default NS IPs.

Oh good, I thought I was out to lunch...

[EDIT]
While I'm in here, where do I add Trusted DNS servers for Zone Transfers? I can use Webmin to do this, but would rather keep it in the family.

TX.
