Create ftp account with custom directory

[Solved] Create ftp account with custom directory
Hello,

I would like to create an ftp account that is jailed to a specific folder under one of my domains.
How could I achieve this?

The options given to me in the web interface are only limited to creating new folders and the entire domain's folder.
So if my domain's folder is domain_com how do I restrict a user to "domain_com/specific_folder"

instead of the entire domain_com folder?

Thanks in advance

It can be done, but you will need to edit the entry in the database manually by adding the folder to the end of the domain. It's been a while since I last tried it and I'm not home right now to check the database table but I believe it is x_ftp_accounts.

[Solved] RE: Create ftp account with custom directory
Hi, thanks for your reply.

After what you said, I checked a bit the way proftpd works, and I figured it.

In case anyone else needs to achieve this:

We will have to edit the database, (either cli or phpmyadmin)
1- create the user from the panel with any path
2- Navigate to the datasentora_proftpd
3- Navigate to the 4th table ftpuser
4- find the user that we which to modify and simply edit its homedir.

It's very easy, and the steps are intuitive once you know that you have to edit the dir in the database. it just took me 2-4 minutes.

I also think it needs to be done in the sentora_core.x_ftpaccounts.ft_directory_vc since that is where proftpd gets its original info (This will also show up properly inside Sentora FTP manager)

Glad you sorted it out.
