Can I connect to my server over SSH using a console?

Can I connect to my server over SSH using a console?
Hello.  I am poised to edit a website that is housed on a web server using Sentora.  Is it possible to access the server via a console, using SSH?  If so, how would I do that?  The console application I would use is Git Bash for Windows (Win 10, x64).

I have already tried connecting via SSH using a few different usernames and ports (21, 22, and 8083), but was met with an error each time ("Connection refused" and "Connection closed by remote host").

I have already successfully connected to the server via FTP (using a third party FTP client), but doing so via a console has its advantages.

Thanks in advance.

The ftp user don't allow ssh access only root user or admin have that right.

Right O, thanks for that.  For the future, am I correct to assume that credentials with FTP access will not grant SSH access--that only SFTP credentials have the possibility of granting SSH access?
