Sentora Panel Roadmap

Sentora Panel Roadmap
The following apply mainly to the panel interface (Core), installers on separate post.

Currentl status 1.0.3

- No major bugs reported.

1.0.4 targets: (release in march)

- Updating apps shipped with sentora.
- Small bug fixes.
- upgrade /etc/app phpmyadmin / roundcube webmail to latest.
- remove some legacy code.
- removing phpsysinfo module ( will released as separate module).

Below could be delayed:
- Trying to add SSL support in basic mode ( if it works fine).
- Improving web module features.
- Imroving DNS templates ( adding the feature to enable / disable them) .

I will be working on this frozen base:

https://github.com/sentora/sentora-core/tree/1.0.4-meb

1.0.5 ( June or earlier depend on work progress)
- Improving SSL & web module.
- Trying to test the ability to remove/ install core modules like any module. So we can update only a module.
- adding more features, like web forwarding, gzip.
- Merging sub domains with domains module.
- Fixing backup module, allowing to set backup per user, DB only, Max backup to keep.
- Adding phpunit testing for modules
- Cloudflare support for DNS.

We need also to work to improve Sentora API and isolate is on a separate subdomain or port.
Separate cron hooks from the panel and isolating them.
More sandboxing in the panel & security improvements.

This is DRAFT that will be updated following discussions and your comments.

If you think you can add more features or improve you are welcome to expose your idea. Please only if you want to participate, we don't want this thread to be a WISH list.

We need help over automating TEST, phpunit, selenium, phantomJS.

RE: Sentora Panel Roadmap
Thank you for Sentora!

It seems the development is stagnating.
Is this impression correct?

If no: will you make SSL easier?
I spent enough hours trying to set it up now without too much of a success.
It has to become much easier. Including automatic .htacess redirecting to https.

Best

RE: Sentora Panel Roadmap
I think there where some missed targets:

1.0.4 targets: (release in march)
1.0.5 ( June or earlier depend on work progress)

Bin a while when i was here. Our company moved on to Odin (PLESK) 12.x. Working with this panel shows me that Sentora has a long way to come, if even reached or wanted.

Nevertheless i have Sentora on my home server and i wish to see some improvements. I'm sorry i don't have time to be involved more, but then again you all are! I have respect of what the team reached so far. But you need to start to show people youre active developing. Like Me.b ones said, more release with fewer fixes/improvements if you will. Is time really the issue for the team? If i and some other company's invest money in the team will there be more activity? If not then for the sake of Sentora future start searching for new team members that have more time or something. Admit that the current team is timewise or elsewise not capable to push further and turn over the stick or pull the plug. Its shame to see something to be this potentially great as Sentora go to waste because of bad internal politics.

RE: Sentora Panel Roadmap
Any update development or release?

More then 1 year since last update.

In my installer release I already do apps update. I'm working on a new security release now are taking off Suhosin and get a real php7.x compatibility, I need more the update from the 1.0.5 + zsudo removal.

Do you have any plan for that soon?

After that a plan for multi php with fast-cgi, FPM may be a good improvement. With all these update, release can even be the 1.5

Thank you!
